Sexual health and contraception resources and support

Learn about sexual health and the related services available to students, and how to get free condoms, contraceptive advice, and emergency contraception.
Sexual Health Fife
Sexual Health Fife is part of the National Health Service (NHS) and offers a wide range of services, including:
- contraception advice
- free condoms by post
- pregnancy guidance
- a faster referral to access sexual health services
- sexually transmitted infection (STI) tests
- appointments for blood-borne (BBV) viruses.
Sexual health clinic
Students can make an appointment to visit the NHS sexual health service. To find out about the services available and how to make an appointment, visit the NHS Scotland National Sexual Health web page.
Contraception, free condoms, and emergency contraceptives
You can get the contraceptive pill, injection, or implant by making an appointment at the medical practice you are registered with. If you need an emergency contraceptive pill, also known as the ‘morning after pill’, it may be quicker to get it from a pharmacy in St Andrews.

The University also provides free condoms, available from:
- the Student Advocate at the Union
- the Union porter (at night only)
- condom distributor machines in every hall of residence
- the Advice and Support Centre (ASC) on 79 North Street
- Student Services on Eden Court, The Scores
- the Student Health Hub based at the St Andrews Community Hospital on Largo Road.
