Biometric residence permits

Updated on: 29 May 2024

Find out who needs a biometric residence permit (BRP), and what to do if yours is lost or stolen.

If you are an international student with a Student visa to study for more than six months, you will need to collect your biometric residence permit (BRP) from your collection location when you arrive in the UK.

You’ll find the BRP collection location in your decision email.

Visit the UK government’s website to learn more about biometric residence permits.

If your BRP card is lost or stolen

Read the UK government's advice on how to report your BRP as lost or stolen and how to apply for a replacement.

You will not be able to use your BRP if you find it after reporting it as lost or stolen.

You can also email advint@st-andrews.ac.uk to get help from the University’s International Advisers.
