Medical Humanities

St Andrews Medical Humanities Network Inaugural Symposium

Monday 20 January 2025
Parliament Hall, South Street

Call for Papers

The St Andrews Medical Humanities Network, in collaboration with the Graduate School for Interdisciplinary Studies, is hosting its inaugural symposium in January 2025, following a successful roundtable launch event in May 2024. We invite contributions of short papers (10 minutes) and posters.

The symposium seeks to bring together scholars from all career stages and disciplinary backgrounds at the university who share an interest in medical/health humanities, broadly defined. The aim is to facilitate cross-disciplinary connections and collaborations in medical humanities at the university and to discuss how to build and grow the network. Projects and activities might be at different stages of development (completed, ongoing, or in development), and may fall within research, teaching or public engagement – all welcome.

Please let us know of a title for your talk/poster and up to 5 keywords that describe your overall research interests in medical humanities by completing our form here by 20th December 2024.

Following the symposium, we are delighted to announce that we will be hosting a keynote lecture by award-winning historian of medicine, technology, and disability Dr Jaipreet Virdi (University of Delaware).

Full details on the symposium and keynote will be published in due course.
