New lecturer in Sustainable Development appointed

We are delighted to announce that Dr Ifesinachi (Ife) Okafor-Yarwood will be joining the school as lecturer in Sustainable Development from 1 May 2020.

Ife holds a PhD on Leadership, Security and Development from King's College London, an MA on Conflict, Security and Development, also from King's College London and a BA in International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies from London Metropolitan University. Her research centres around the blue economy, maritime governance and security and their interconnectedness with human/national and regional security in West and Central Africa.

Ife has over three years of teaching experience relating to international security and sustainable development. She is a senior maritime security expert for the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) Critical Maritime Route (CRIMSON III) project, a consultant for One Earth Future – Stable Seas, Colorado, and has consulted for regional and international organisations on the ocean, environmental degradation, natural resource governance, security, and development issues.

Ife has published on a wide range of topics. Her most recent publications explore the extent to which illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing undermines efforts to achieve sustainable development goals and the duplicity of the European Union common fisheries policy, respectively.
