SGSD researchers host Scottish Government team
Dr Cornilius Chikwama, Senior Economist and Head of the Analytical Unit with Marine Scotland, visited the Scottish Oceans Institute this week to meet with SGSD colleagues (Ms Simone Riegel – PhD student, Dr Laure Kuhfuss and Professor Bill Austin) to discuss new policy opportunities for the University’s Blue Carbon research initiatives. Cornilius was joined by Scottish government colleagues: Catriona Jeorrett, who helps co-ordinate the Scottish Blue Carbon Forum, and Annemari Magi, an economist. The conversation was wide-ranging and included discussion with Simone Riegel, a PhD student in SGSD, to explore the policy options deriving from her cross-cutting socio-economic research project on the ecosystem services and valuation of Scotland’s coastal wetlands (saltmarshes).
