Sight & Sound best video essays of 2024

Dr Lucy Fife Donaldson had three video essays included in the Sight & Sound best video essays of 2024 list, chosen by video essayists, scholars and curators from around the world. Included were two audiovisual essays produced as part of Ariel Avissar’s online workshop on parametric videographic criticism - Twisting (Payne’s Constraint) and Approaching the Design of Marie Antoinette (Laird’s Constraint) – and one audiovisual essay conceived as part of a series of feminist citational practices exercises developed by the Ways of Doing collective (Lucy Fife Donaldson, Colleen Laird, Dayna McLeod and Alison Peirse) – Orientation, a homage to the work of Johannes Binotto.

Dr Donaldson was also invited to vote in the poll, as was PhD candidate in the Department, Ilinca Vânău.
