Impact Fund Award for the Project Women’s Film Lab
Dr Isabel Seguí has been awarded the St Andrews Impact Fund (£13,510) to develop the project Women's Film Lab: Activating Memories of Decentralised Community Cinema.
The project aims to enhance the connection between grassroots film and social organisations using historical examples of community-building cinema in Peru. The lab program focuses on participatory archiving, oral history, web design, and Wikipedia entry-making.
This project is deeply rooted in collaboration. We partner with women-led social, cultural, and film organisations based in the Andean high plateau, the Northern Pacific coast, and the Amazonian rainforest. Together, we will create a transformative experience for all involved.
Sara Guerrero, a Peruvian PhD student in the departments of Film Studies and Social Anthropology - starting in September thanks to the generous Widening Participation Scholarship offered by the School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies - will join the team led by Dr Seguí and Peruvian researcher Lorena Best.
