Nora Von Xylander's travels to Naples!
Nora Von Xylander was awarded a Travel Grant to attend a meeting in Naples. Below she reports back about her travels, in her own words.
"I had the incredible opportunity to attend the 2024 European Coral Reefs Symposium (ECRS) in Naples, thanks to a travel grant from the University of St Andrews' School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. As my PhD journey nears its end, I was thrilled to present my research on the role of lipids in coral biomineralization and engage in inspiring conversations with experts in the field. I reconnected with old colleagues, met renowned scientists, and even discussed potential future collaborations. A special highlight was an evening with coral researchers from James Cook University and KAUST, sharing drinks with a stunning view of Vesuvius. To top it off, I was also able to go and explore Pompeii on my last day before heading back to St Andrews. I am extremely grateful to the school for this unforgettable experience!"
