Leverhulme Research Project on Clouds and Climate
Dr Michael Byrne and Dr Anna Mackie have been awarded a research grant from the Leverhulme Trust to study the effects of clouds on climate. This new project – entitled ‘Connecting warming patterns to cloud feedbacks: role of atmospheric circulation’ – will use a range of computer simulations of the climate along with observational data to better understand how tropical surface warming patterns influence the atmospheric circulation, cloud systems and, ultimately, Earth’s energy balance and global climate. The project will begin in summer 2025 and we will soon be recruiting a PhD student join the team.
