Congrats to Dr Innes!
Congratulations to Dr Helen Innes for defending her PhD thesis: ‘Whodunit? Determining the source and eruptive characteristics of unidentified volcanic eruptions from ice and sediment core archives’
Helen’s PhD was supervised by Drs Andrea Burke, Will Hutchison and James Rae at St Andrews, as well as Dr Sam Engwell (British Geological Survey). Her examiners were Dr Gill Plunkett (Queen's University Belfast) and Dr Eva Stüeken (St Andrews).
Helen has done some fantastic work pushing our new probe to the limits to analyse tiny tephra and she’ll be continuing this ice core work as a post doc at SEES.
