Frequently asked questions
Who will be telephoning?
We have a team of undergraduate and postgraduate students looking forward to speaking to you. They hail from all over the world and are each studying different degrees and subjects. All of them are enthusiastic about how the global St Andrews community helps support the University. You can put a face to the name with our fantastic student callers and see their course subject area by visiting our online Meet the Callers page.
What number will they be calling from?
+44 (0)1334 466030
Are calls monitored or recorded?
During the campaign, some calls will be monitored for training and quality assurance purposes.
Can I donate over the phone?
Yes! Our students receive full training to ensure your donations are processed securely: at the end of the telephone call the student will transfer you to an automated system for your donation to be processed securely if you’re paying by card. We only take non-sensitive bank information to process Direct Debits (more details below).
Is payment processed securely?
Card payments
We use an automated payment system, with callers removed from the payment process and they do not have access to card or banking details. This puts the call room, the callers and supporting infrastructure (network, laptops & phones) completely outside the payment process to keep it entirely secure.
Direct Debits
We use a completely secure system that requires only your account number and sort code – the non-sensitive information that is printed on cash cards and chequebooks.

What if I am not in, or unavailable to take the call?
If our students do not manage to speak to you, they will call back another time during the three week campaign.
