Madras demolition Kevin McMullan, a project manager at the University of St Andrews and former pupil of Madras College, has played a leading role in taking the wrecking ball to his old school. The demolition is being undertaken by Safedem and is making way for the development of ‘New College’, which will ultimately be home to the School of International Relations and the new St Andrews Business School.

World premiere of ‘The Man in the Submarine’The Byre Theatre, Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland, Perth Theatre and the University of St Andrews have collaborated to create a new Playwriting Award to support the next generation of playwrights living in Scotland. The world premiere of the winning submission – ‘The Man in the Submarine’ [Y Dyn yn y Llong Danfor] by Laila Noble – was performed on Thursday 9 February.

Alumni Weekend: Friday 16 to Sunday 18 June 2023Some of this year's exciting events include a Browse with Fizz at Toppings & Company Booksellers and a Welcome Drinks Reception in Sandy's Bar with live music on Friday. Join us on Saturday for the Arnold Palmer Invitational - a friendly golf tournament on the Torrance Course at the Fairmont Hotel. There's also a wine tasting event later that day with wines from around the world (and cheeses to match) in the Beacon Bar, followed by a barbecue. Finish off the weekend on the Sunday with the traditional Chapel Service and pier walk.

Sands International Film Festival Following last year's successful inaugural edition, Sands is back with a diverse selection of exciting new fiction and non-fiction work by promising filmmakers from around the world, along with talks and events featuring movers and shakers from the film industry.
