This book sheds light on the journal of the first and last Grand Sheikh of the British Isles, Sheikh Abdullah Quilliam. It particularly explores the Official Hamidean Pan-Islamism policy, the Armenian question, and British-Ottoman relations during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II. In contrast to current scholarship on Pan-Islamism, this work challenges the notion that Sultan Abdul Hamid II Pan-Islamism policy intended to counter the threat of European Imperialism to the Ottoman Empire. It argues that the Islamic World Journal was the political organ of the Grand Sheikh of the British Isles that promoted an anti-nationalist Pan-Islamism to counter the threat of nationalism to the Ottoman Empire.
