The third of a series of 3 memoirs, this book covers the years 1971-76 when George was a student at the University of St. Andrews, and includes his year as an English Language Assistant in Versailles. Following on from his primary school adventures in "Wee Georgie" and his secondary school life in Dundee in "Georgie", George leaves home and takes up residence in John Burnet Hall in September 1971. He struggles to cope with the academic demands of the courses he has chosen but makes progress with his social life and his ambition to play football for the University. The following 4 years are a series of highs and lows, culminating in George sitting his finals, only months before his intended marriage to Isobel.
The book pulls few punches about the stress of those years, both in studies and relationships, but is an honest account of that era, detailing the fun and hard work required to make the grade.
