Schoolgirl Days at Milton Mount College 1920-1960

Rosemary Jordan, BA 1956

The account of life at an English girls' boarding school compiled from the memories of its former pupils. Contains over 80 black and white photographs and four pages in full colour. RRP £10.00. For 40 years (apart from World War 2) the school was based in a fine Victorian mansion with extensive grounds in the countryside of West Sussex.

Originally founded in 1871 in Gravesend, Kent, to educate the daughters of Congregational ministers, the school maintained a strong non-conformist tradition and aimed to inspire Christian values in its pupils as well as giving them a good education.

Among its former pupils is Lady Wilson of Rievaulx, widow of British prime minister Harold Wilson. Rosemary Jordan was responsible for the final layout as one of an editorial team of five who sorted, edited and assembled all the contributions into a beautifully produced book.
