National Tsing Hua was established in 1956 by academics from Tsing Hua University in Beijing. Since its establishment in Hsinchu, Tsinghua University has developed into a comprehensive research university offering a full range of degree programmes. NTHU consistently ranks as one of the premier universities in East Asia, and is well-known for its Nobel and Wolf Prize winners.Established : 1911

Getting there and getting around
The nearest airport is Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. From the airport, you can take the airport bus or a local bus service, with journey times varying between 50-120 minutes.
It is about 30 minutes by bus from NTHU to Hsinchu City. Eligible students can apply for a student ‘iPass’ transport card, entitling you to concessionary public transport fares. Further information on transport is on the NTHU website.
Accommodation
NTHU offers all exchange students accommodation, as long as they apply by the deadline and indicate their intention to live on-campus in the NTHU application form. The Division of Student Housing website has further information. Accommodation is usually shared.

Application costs
Taiwan requires a medical certificate as part of the student visa application. You will need to pay for a medical examination and associated x-ray and blood tests, usually at a private centre. You should ensure that you arrange this process well before the visa application deadline.
Insurance
Students staying in Taiwan for longer than six months in total may be required to join Taiwan's National Health Insurance plan. NTHU's pages have futher information
