Dr Areti Manataki
Lecturer
Biography
I am a Lecturer in Computer Science and a health data scientist. In my research, I employ artificial intelligence methods to improve the delivery of healthcare services. I have extensive experience in leading innovative online and blended courses, including MOOCs and upskilling courses for professionals.
Prior to joining the University of St Andrews in 2020, I was a Senior Researcher and a Teaching and Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, where I also obtained my PhD.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Young Academy of Scotland.
Teaching
I currently teach on:
- CS5044: Information Visualisation
- CS5040: Human Computer Interaction Principles and Methods
Research areas
In my research I employ artificial intelligence methods to improve the delivery of healthcare services. I am particularly interested in AI-enabled process modelling and mining, workflow analysis, data visualisation and their applications in healthcare.
Examples of projects that I have been involved in include: the analysis of disease trajectories of multimorbidity with the use of data science methods; the use of routinely collected data to improve patient flow through hospital; and advanced data visualisation to communicate key medical messages extracted from cancer data.
