Chapel availability
If you are interested in a wedding in one of the University chapels, St Salvator’s Chapel or St Leonard’s Chapel, please read the following information carefully.
This webpage is designed to help you find the perfect date and time for your wedding. We have listed the dates and times below that are currently unavailable. Please note that we do accept multiple wedding bookings per day, typically two hours before or after the listed times, and two and a half hours for a Catholic Wedding.
If you have any questions about dates or times, please don’t hesitate to contact us. However, please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of unlisted dates or times, as we may have provisional wedding bookings or other events scheduled in the chapel diary.
Wedding bookings can take place on both weekdays and weekends, except for Sundays during the academic year and;
- during Holy week
- during examinations diet(s)
- during graduation period(s)
- during orientation week
- during university closure dates; May Day and Christmas
Other dates/periods to avoid.
- when the Lammas Market is in town, typically the second weekend in August.
- during golf tournaments such as the British Golf Open which can cause occasional accommodation problems and heavy congestion, making it difficult for guests to travel and find accommodation. You can find a list of major golfing tournaments on the Visit Scotland webpage.
- School Examination period: Due to the location of St Leonard's chapel, within the grounds of St Leonard’s School, weddings cannot take place during the school’s examination period.
Semester dates are available on the University’s website
You must contact the chaplaincy office to schedule your provisional wedding booking before submitting a wedding booking form and deposit payment. Further information on booking process can be found the wedding guidelines web page, 'booking your wedding' section.
