Documenting life for female academics in St Andrews

The Academic Women Here! booklet was coauthored by Sharon Ashbrook, Aileen Fyfe and Ineke de Moortel and considers the experiences of mid-career female academics in St Andrews.

The book describes the careers of 44 women who were Grade 8 (Reader and Senior Lecturer) in St Andrews at some point during 2017. The women shared their research and the career challenges they faced, and discussed what they felt had contributed to their success to date.

The academics were also asked to share key dates in their careers (e.g. PhD graduation, job changes and promotions), milestones they felt represented their best achievements and basic information about their family circumstances. The book contains a set of varied career pathways and profiles and confirms that there is no single way for females to have an academic career in St Andrews.
