Your Future, Start Now

The Your Future, Start Now programme, open to all first-year undergraduates, is a series of workshops designed to kickstart your career development.

After the workshops, you can apply for a week-long, paid internship with a real employer.

Eligibility 

First-year undergraduates studying at the University of St Andrews.

Benefits

In the programme, you will hear from alumni, industry experts and the Careers Centre team.

You will:  

  • learn about the world of work 
  • understand and develop the key transferable skills employers look for, and learn how to demonstrate them 
  • develop the self-awareness needed for making career decisions 
  • build a network of contacts 
  • begin to reflect on your journey through the programme. 

Through applying for an internship, you will get application and interview experience. By completing the internship, you will put what you’ve learned from the workshops into practice, while gaining real work experience.

We encourage an atmosphere of collaboration and mutual respect.  

If you are accepted onto the programme, you should ensure you are available to attend every workshop.

Pay

Those who complete a week-long internship will be paid a learning stipend of £364.
