Saints Skills Spotlight Award
Sign-ups — semester 2
Sign-ups are currently closed.
The Saints Skills Spotlight Award is a mock recruitment process. It helps you talk about your skills, making you more employable.
The award is open to all students, in any year of study. It runs once in Semester 1 and once in Semester 2.
Completing the award should take eight hours or less, and can be done around your studies. It will be recognised on your Higher Education Achievement Award (HEAR) transcript.
"I would absolutely encourage any of my peers to seriously consider participating in the Saints Skills Spotlight Award. It provides such a unique and holistic opportunity to develop skills that are crucial for career success... mak[ing] you a much more polished, confident, and compelling candidate for whatever future path you decide to pursue."
Aims
This award tests your ability to:
- identify the key skills a job description asks for
- show that you have the key skills an employer wants.
Describing your skills to employers or admissions staff can be hard. The Spotlight Award helps you learn how to write applications, highlight your abilities, and make your skills relevant.
Getting an award
To get an award, you must complete a mock recruitment process:
- Submit a CV and cover letter targeted at a job you choose.
- Record a video interview, answering common interview questions.
You will only be able to progress to step 2 if you achieve a mark of 80% or above in your CV and cover letter in step 1.
The top students from both steps will also be invited to participate in an assessment centre led by a graduate employer.
Recognition and prizes
If you complete an award:
- this will be recognised on your HEAR transcript
- you will be given a badge for your LinkedIn profile.
If you participate in the assessment centre, you will get an enhanced Spotlight Award. If you are among the best-performing students, you will also win a prize from the graduate employer.
