Postgraduate research courses in biology
The School of Biology offers the following research degrees:
MSc (Res)
The MSc (Res) in Biology is a one-year research-based Masters degree. You will engage in a full-time research project and write a 30,000-word dissertation. It is an excellent opportunity to spend a shorter time in a research environment either for a standalone degree or as preparation for a PhD.
The School offers three MSc (Res) streams:
PhD (Doctorate)
The PhD (Doctorate) is usually a three-year programme (or six years part time) of supervised research, leading to a thesis of no more than 80,000 words and an oral examination.
