Reframing the Muse.

12 March 2025

Two events on Wednesday 26 March accompany the exhibition Reframing the Muse, at the Tower Foyer Gallery, University of Dundee, which examines the evolving role of the female body as a subject in art.

The exhibition has been curated by museum volunteer Delaney Brown, an art history student at the University of St Andrews. At 1.15pm, Delaney will lead an informal guided tour of the exhibition, discussing her thought processes behind the show and some of the artworks included in it. Places should be booked via Reframing the Muse - Exhibition Tour Tickets, Wed 26 Mar 2025 at 13:15 | Eventbrite

At 5.30pm, there will be a discussion event and workshop focusing on the practice of life drawing and figure drawing. After a short introduction to the exhibition by Delaney, there will be an informal discussion with museum curator Matthew Jarron and DJCAD life model co-ordinator Christine McLachlan exploring life drawing and how it has evolved over time. Various examples from the DJCAD collections will be on show. In the second part of the event, MFA Curatorial Practice student Sophie Wilson will lead a relaxed figure drawing workshop, inspired by her research on similar themes. Whether you're an artist, an art enthusiast, or simply curious, this is a unique opportunity to explore, reflect and create. All experience levels are welcome! Places must be booked via Reframing the Muse - Life Drawing Discussion and Workshop Tickets, Wed 26 Mar 2025 at 17:30 | Eventbrite

The exhibition finishes on Friday 28 March – more details at Reframing the Muse | University of Dundee, UK.
