Venice in Blue. The Use of carta azzurra in the Artist’s Studio and in the Printer’s Workshop

This volume is the first of its kind to focus exclusively on the material of blue paper handmade in Italy, shedding new light on its meaning and transcultural impact. Bringing together perspectives from art and book historians, paper restorers and paper historians, this publication explores the proliferation of the use of blue paper for drawings, prints and printed books in the Veneto and beyond during the first half of the 16th century.
