Our online short course The Modernist Artist: From Europe to Latin America explores the rich history of female artists in the modernist movement. Taught by the School of Art History, this online short course will take you on a journey through the mediums of painting, sculpture, textiles, and more as you unravel the meaning behind the modernist movement.
Explore the themes of marginalisation and self-representation through the eyes of the female artists who drove these movements and how our understanding of them has been shaped by their personal biographies. This course is ideal for those looking to get a deeper understanding of the modernist movement and develop a greater appreciation of its inclusion in art galleries and museums.
This self-study course is delivered by Dr Natalia Sassu Suarez Ferri and Dr Billy Rough through pre-recorded lectures, readings, discussion forums and specially curated materials, you can engage with this course in your own way and in your own time. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a certificate and digital badge from the University of St Andrews recognising your achievement.
