Remembering, Displacement, and War.
In this article for Most Magazine, PhD candidate Kateryna Volochnuik reflects upon her family archives. Her grandfather, Oleksii Shepeliuk, was photographer and editor for the Kyiv Lepse Factory newspaper from 1963-1970. His complex, displaced archive provides the basis for her PhD research. Here, she reflects on family photographs, difficult histories and the impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Kateryna's research is supported by SGSAH, and she is currently Visiting Doctoral Researcher at the Lviv Center for Urban History.
