The School would like to congratulate Dr Stephanie O’Rourke on being awarded the 2023 First Book Prize by the British Association for Romantic Studies for her book Art, Science, and the Body in Early Romanticism (Cambridge University Press, 2021), an alternative history of romantic visual culture that is deeply embroiled in controversies around electricity, mesmerism, physiognomy and other popular sciences.
