Join us 7th February for Professor Christopher S. Wood Research Seminar on ‘Aby Warburg's Europe' at 4pm in School 2. A wine reception will follow at 79 North Street.

In 1926 Aby Warburg delivered a long lecture on a famous painting by Rembrandt, ‘The Oath of Claudius Civilis'. Late in life, and unexpectedly, Warburg had become obsessed with this painting. This talk interprets the episode in the context of Warburg's new-found and equally unexpected engagement with contemporary European politics.
