Fees vary depending on whether you are staying in catered or self-catered accommodation, whether your room is standard or en suite, and whether you are sharing or not. Hall information
The University manages 40 houses in Leuchars, a small town close to St Andrews.
Leuchars was a Royal Air Force (RAF) base and this connection is reflected in the street names.
The houses are in a quiet short self-contained street.
The University maintains the gardens.
Location
Leuchars properties are close to a bus stop, where you can take regular buses to St Andrews or Dundee. The bus takes ten minutes to get to St Andrews.
The properties are also about a five-minute walk to Leuchars train station.
The properties are located in six streets that are next to each other:

- Mosquito Drive
- Whirlwind Place
- Blenheim Place
- Spitfire Place
- Hampden Close
What are Leuchars properties like?
In a quiet housing estate in a small town, Leuchars properties are close to Tentsmuir forest and beach, which is great for cycling and walks.
Bedroom
Bedding is not included. You can bring your own duvet, blankets and pillow cases, or order bedding before arriving in St Andrews. Find out more on the bedding information page.
Rooms are furnished and have single beds.
Facilities
The houses have a kitchen, utility room, and large lounge and dining area on the ground floor, with two large bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower over the bath upstairs. Bathrooms and kitchens are shared.
Kitchen
The shared kitchen has a:
- hob and oven
- fridge freezer
- microwave
- kettle
- washing machine.

Parking
There is parking at the Leuchars Properties.
Most students choose to cycle or walk in St Andrews as University buildings and other places in town are not too far away from each other. Learn more about how to travel to and around St Andrews.
To park a car in a University building, you must get a student car parking permit.
Internet and television
You may need a TV Licence. See Use devices and wifi in student accommodation for more information.
Cleaning
You are expected to keep your residence clean and tidy. University staff may carry out regular inspections. Check the Cleaning your student accommodation guide for more information.
Support
The Property Services team are responsible for the services within your accommodation. From 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, these staff can answer questions about your accommodation and help you get help from other parts of the University. They are based at Agnes Blackadder Hall and work closely with colleagues across the University to ensure your time in your accommodation goes smoothly.
During your studies at the University of St Andrews there may be times when you need some help and advice. The University provides a wide range of support services to help you achieve academic success and personal fulfillment.
