Fees vary depending on whether you are staying in catered or self-catered accommodation, whether your room is standard or en suite, and whether you are sharing or not. Hall information
Gregory Place is available only to postgraduate students. It has 14 self-catered rooms in self-contained apartments.
The largest apartment has five single-occupancy bedrooms and there is one studio apartment available for a single person or a couple.
Location
Gregory Place is in the centre of St Andrews, near the pier, castle, cathedral and beaches.
What is Gregory Place like?
It is a quiet, town centre residence. Unlike other residences, Gregory Place does not have a wardennial team or student committee which gives it the feel of a private apartment.
Bedroom
Bedding is not included. You can bring your own duvet, blankets and pillow cases, or order bedding before arriving in St Andrews. Find out more on the bedding information page.
Depending on the room and apartment in Gregory Place, beds can be single or double.
Standard bedrooms
In standard bedrooms, you will usually have a single bed and the following furniture:
- desk, chair and desk lighting
- mattress and mattress protector
- shelves, wardrobe and drawer unit
- general waste and recycling bins.
Studio bedrooms
Studios are ideal for couples and individuals who want more privacy.
Studios are self-contained and include a furnished bedroom with a double bed, a kitchen recess and an en suite shower and toilet.
All studios have:
- desk, chair and desk lighting
- shelves, wardrobe and drawer unit
- mattress and mattress protector
- fridge and freezer
- electric oven
- kettle
- steam iron and ironing board
- basin, cutlery tray and sink tidy
- dustpan and brush, broom, mop and bucket, and vacuum cleaner
- general waste and recycling bins.
Facilities
Gregory Place has a shared courtyard with neighbouring student residence, St Gregory's.
Kitchen
Shared kitchens have:
- fridge and freezer
- oven, electric cooker
- kettle, pots and pans
- steam iron and ironing board
- clothes airer
- basin, cutlery tray and sink tidy
- dustpan and brush, broom, mop and bucket, and vacuum cleaner
- general waste and recycling bins.

Laundry
All apartments have their own washer and dryer.
Internet and television
Televisions are not provided but you may still need a TV Licence. See Use devices and wifi in student accommodation for more information on this and other equipment.
Cleaning
You are expected to keep your residence clean and tidy. University staff may carry out regular inspections. Check the Cleaning your student accommodation guide for more information.
Parking
There is no parking available at Gregory Place.
Most students choose to cycle or walk in St Andrews as University buildings and other places in town are not too far away from each other. Learn more about how to travel to and around St Andrews.
To park a car in a University building, you must get a student car parking permit.
Support
The Property Services team are responsible for the services within your accommodation. From 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, these staff can answer questions about your accommodation and help you get help from other parts of the University. They are based at Agnes Blackadder Hall and work closely with colleagues across the University to ensure your time in your accommodation goes smoothly.
