Fees vary depending on whether you are staying in catered or self-catered accommodation, whether your room is standard or en suite, and whether you are sharing or not. Hall information

Apartments are furnished and students have a shared kitchen and bathroom, as well as space for dining and relaxing.

Accessibility

Two apartments have a wheelchair accessible bedroom with a double bed. The shower room and kitchen in each of these apartments have been designed with accessibility in mind.

Location

In the centre of St Andrews, this accommodation is close to the main high street, behind the Chaplaincy Centre, and across from the Students' Union.

Many PhD offices are nearby as is the University Main Library. Other University buildings are a five to ten-minute walk away. 

What are Angus House and Stanley Smith House like?

Refurbished in 2017 with new kitchens and bathrooms, the houses provide a small, close-knit community with a committee who run social events throughout the year.

Bedroom

Bedding is not included. You can bring your own duvet, blankets and pillow cases, or order bedding before arriving in St Andrews. Find out more on the bedding information page.

There are 43 single rooms available with single beds and two accessible rooms with double beds.

Standard bedrooms

In standard bedrooms, you will have a single bed (approximately 3 feet wide) and the following furniture:

  • desk, chair and desk lighting
  • mattress and mattress protector
  • bookcase, wardrobe and drawer unit
  • general waste and recycling bins.

Kitchen

Shared kitchens have the following:

  • oven
  • fridge and freezer
  • electric cooker
  • kettle
  • steam iron and ironing board
  • clothes airer
  • pots and pans
  • basin, cutlery tray and sink tidy
  • dustpan and brush, broom, mop and bucket, and vacuum cleaner
  • flip top bin and recycling bin

Laundry

There is one card-operated laundry room shared between both houses. There is one washer and one dryer in the room.


 

 

 

Parking

There is no student parking available.

Most students choose to cycle or walk in St Andrews as University buildings and other places in town are not too far away from each other. Learn more about how to travel to and around St Andrews.

To park a car in a University building, you must get a student car parking permit.


Internet and television

You may need a TV Licence. See Use devices and wifi in student accommodation for more information on this and other equipment.

TVs are not provided.


Cleaning

You are expected to keep your residence clean and tidy. University staff may carry out regular inspections. Check the Cleaning your student accommodation guide for more information.

Support

The Property Services team are responsible for the services within your accommodation. From 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, these staff can answer questions about your accommodation and help you get help from other parts of the University. They are based at Agnes Blackadder Hall and work closely with colleagues across the University to ensure your time in your accommodation goes smoothly.

During your studies at the University of St Andrews there may be times when you need some help and advice. The University provides a wide range of support services to help you achieve academic success and personal fulfillment.
