Contract information
You can access your accommodation contract at any time through the accommodation online portal.
-
You may only cancel your contract within seven days of accepting your offer of accommodation. To cancel, send a signed letter or email to Student Accommodation Services (accommodation@st-andrews.ac.uk) from your University email address.
If you do not cancel within seven days, you will be liable for the rent during the entire period of your contract, including catering costs where applicable.
Studying away from St Andrews
If you are required to study away from St Andrews as part of your course, you can terminate your contract by providing notice at least four weeks before you leave. Send your notice in writing to Student Accommodation Services (accommodation@st-andrews.ac.uk) and include a confirmation from your Faculty that you are studying away from St Andrews.
Leave of absence or termination of studies
If you are taking a leave of absence from the University or have had your studies terminated, contact Student Accommodation Services (accommodation@st-andrews.ac.uk) as soon as you have had confirmation from Registry.
If you need more than five days to leave your residence, inform Student Accommodation Services of the date you will be leaving.
You will be charged accommodation fees up until the end of the semester (see Terms and conditions of occupancy).
-
Disciplinary matters and breaches of Terms and conditions of occupancy are managed under the non-academic misconduct policy. Some issues will be referred to Student Conduct Officer.
More severe disciplinary action, including expulsion from the residence system, may be taken for:
- major disciplinary indiscretions
- breaches of hall rules and regulations or residence contracts
- repeated antisocial behaviour.
Read the hall rules and regulations. Ignorance of rules is not considered a valid excuse.
Vandalism and damage
If you damage or vandalise any fixtures, fittings, furniture or decoration in your room, kitchen, or communal areas, you must pay for any costs needed to fix the problem.
If there is damage to the kitchen and no one accepts responsibility, then all residents using that area will be billed collectively.
Any charges incurred will be invoiced directly by the Residential Service Manager.
