Saints Sport is responsible for managing all sport and fitness related activities, services and facilities at the University of St Andrews and is a partnership between the Department of Sport and Exercise and the Athletic Union.

Saints Sport is managed by Stephen Stewart (Director) and Ian Gaunt (Deputy Director).

• Department of Sport and Exercise (DSE)

  The main function of the Department of Sport and Exercise (DSE) is to provide opportunities for students of the University to engage in sport and physical activity at both competitive and recreational level. Similar opportunities are also made available to University staff and the local community, visitors to the University.

  Working closely with the Athletic Union, the DSE is responsible for managing the sports facilities and delivering a range of opportunities across the University, including performance and recreational sport, fitness classes, health services, volunteer programmes, student development courses and national and international standard sporting events.

• Athletic Union

  The Athletic Union (AU) is the student run organisation for the support and development of university sports clubs. Led by a full time student president who dedicates a year away from their studies, the AU currently manages 60 affiliated clubs catering to all levels of ability, as well as over 100 teams that compete in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) championship, and Scottish Student Sport (SSS), local and national leagues and competitions. All matriculated students at the University of St Andrews are automatically members of the Athletic Union.
