Development

Development is responsible for the University’s philanthropic fundraising and for developing strong relationships with alumni, friends and donors throughout the world. The support this creates helps to consolidate the University’s status as a world-class centre for teaching, learning and research.

• Alumni and Supporter Engagement

  The Alumni and Supporter Engagement team maintains and develops relationships with alumni, friends, families and donors. Team members also design and run events and publish digital and print material to engage with and support these relationships.

  The team also manages the Kaleidoscope Alumni Network (KAN) that celebrates the ethnic and cultural diversity of St Andrews graduates around the world.

• Development Services

  The Development Services team is responsible for the following areas:

  Annual giving: raises funds for key University priorities with a focus on scholarships and student support through annual direct mail, e-appeals, student telephone fundraising and ongoing SaintsFunder crowdfunding projects.

  Development database: manages the Raiser’s Edge database providing reliable and high-quality data and data services for all fundraising appeals, alumni, family and supporter communications and the Unit’s engagement activities.

  Gift administration and operations: administers all philanthropic donations to the University including gifts to the University’s overseas foundations including managing all audit and reporting requirements. This team also supports the Director with all budgets, health and safety and other administrative responsibilities.

  Prospect research: responsible for identifying and providing high-quality information on prospective donors and supporters for fundraising projects and briefings in advance of events and meetings. This team also carries out due diligence on prospective donors.

• Campaign and Donor Relations

  The Campaign and Donor Relations team is responsible for reporting to donors on the impact of their contributions, through written reports, short films, visits and events.

  Team members are responsible for the project management of the University’s £300m fundraising campaign, and also oversee:

  • legacy and memorial giving
  • trust and foundation funding
  • sport and community fundraising
  • corporate sponsorship.
